Schools and other organizations often reach out when they are experiencing one or more of the following challenges:
Students/staff/families who are frequently dysregulated, including meltdowns, aggression, difficulty focusing, or leaving their spaces
Educators experiencing burnout after trying behavior management strategies that are ineffective
Increasing numbers of neurodivergent students/staff without adequate support or shared understanding
Traditional behavior approaches (consequences, rewards, time-outs, loss of recess) that are not working and often escalate behavior
Staff who were not trained in trauma, regulation, or the nervous system
Feelings of helplessness, frustration, or being underprepared
Limited understanding of why certain those impacted by trauma behave the way they do
Skepticism or resistance around neurodiversity and accommodations
Reliance on outdated or rigid practices ("this is how we’ve always done it")

Many schools and organizations are not lacking effort—they are lacking support, training, and permission to do things differently. Common gaps include:
Validation that challenges are real and not a personal failure
Individualized strategies for specific students who are struggling
Group-wide regulation strategies that benefit all students, not just those labeled as “difficult”
Foundational knowledge of trauma, the nervous system, regulation, and neurodiversity
Support to move beyond outdated practices and try more effective approaches
-
After engaging in consulting or training, participants commonly report feeling:
Supported, heard, and validated
Empowered and equipped to try new strategies
Hopeful that trauma-responsive environments are achievable
Confident that strategies are realistic within current roles and resources
Less alone in the work of supporting children/vulnerable populations

Amber holds a deep understanding of the intensity, constraints, and realities of front line settings. This consulting work is not about adding more to already-full plates—it is about making the work more manageable and effective.
Amber understands the skepticism, pushback, and fatigue that often come with conversations about neurodiversity and trauma-informed care. Having participated in those staff meetings and carried those caseloads herself, she approaches consulting with empathy, realism, and respect.
This work bridges the gap between theory and practice. Strategies are grounded in specialized training and real-world implementation that has improved regulation, safety, and learning for our comunities in meaningful ways
